Manslaughter charge for nanny

A nanny charged with murder following the death of a 13-month-old baby has had her charge reduced to manslaughter.

Linda Wise, 46, of Gaerwen, Anglesey, was charged with murdering 13 month old Isaac Rowlinson at his home in Penwortham in December last year.

Isaac was the son of Det Insp Paul Rowlinson, based in Preston, and PC Lisa Rowlinson, who works in Chorley.

Prosecuters are not proceeding with a murder charge but a charge of manslaughter.

No plea was entered by Mrs Wise when she appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday.

The incidents are alleged to have taken place between August 13 and 21 August 2006, and on or between 21 August and 4 September 2006.

A trial date has been set for June 23 at Liverpool Crown Court.
