Sergeant's major catch

STEVE Sergeant took the honours when Westhoughton's White Lion Angling Club travelled to Cheshire for the Walter Forshaws Demolition Trophy.

Sergeant weighed in with 15lb 8oz to take first prize in the competition, held at Meadow View, in Lymm.

The match, fished on Thrush Pool, saw a lot of small carp taken.

Gerry Atherton was just pipped into second place when he mustered 14lb 8oz, with Dave McMinn in third place with 13lb 8oz.

Ian Calderbank was fourth with 6lb 8oz.

White Lion's next match is on Hampton Springs.
