Come on and Feel the Noise

From the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, first published Thursday 4th Apr 2002.

TICKETS are set to go on sale for Blackburn's biggest music event of the year -- even though none of the artists due to perform have been revealed.

But organisers of the Feel The Noise Live concert today promised the gig would be bigger and better than last year's sell-out show.

Last June, 25,000 people flocked to Ewood Park, Blackburn, for the concert put on by Preston-based radio station Rock FM.

Among the artists who performed at the home of Blackburn Rovers were S Club 7, 5ive, Atomic Kitten and A1.

This year's event is set to take place on June 23 and is part of a larger Feel The Noise tour being held in the towns and cities which are served by Rock FM's sister stations.

Events are lined up for Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield and Newcastle, and organisers hope the attraction of playing as part of a tour rather than just one gig will attract even bigger stars.

The event will run for five hours on June 23 -- and tickets go on sale this Saturday at 9am.

Paul Jordan, Rock FM's Managing Director, said: "After last year's sell-out, we want to make it even better this year with fantastic staging and video screens.

"It is great for the whole of Lancashire that Rock FM can bring the most successful stars and bands to Blackburn"

It is hoped 29,000 will be able to fit into the stadium this year.

Each Feel The Noise concert will feature more than 15 chart topping music acts and with more than 300,000 people expected to see the shows during June, July and August, Feel The Noise is guaranteed to be one of the biggest music events of the year.

Plans for the concert were announced earlier this year when permission was requested from Blackburn with Darwen Council to stage the event.

Last year's concert -- the first ever to be held at Ewood Park -- fans got an exclusive first listen to Atomic Kitten's 'Eternal Flame' single.

The song, which later went to number one, was due to have been played live in clubs before the Ewood Park concert.

Illness meant the sexy trio had to cancel their nightclub appearances -- and only performed the song for the first time in Blackburn.

Tickets are priced at £15.00, £12.50 and £10.00 and can be ordered from the Feel The Noise Hotline 08707 460 123 or direct from the 97.4 Rock FM Ticketline 01772 65 4000

Tickets will also be available from Blackburn King George's Hall and HMV stores in Preston and Blackpool or online, www.rockfm.co.uk. Tickets may be subject to booking fee.
